This report is submitted in compliance with the following directive in the Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009 (RR 1105; PL 111-8): the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) "is directed to report 180 days after enactment of this Act on the steps taken to better integrate gender considerations into its economic development portfolio, and describe current and future planned programming that promote women's economic opportunities, including the outcomes associated with these programs disaggregated by gender." The report discusses relevant USAID actions in FY 2008 and FY 2009. It includes both a discussion of institutional changes within USAID to strengthen the integration of gender throughout the Agency's programs and examples of the types of interventions in the field that promote women's economic opportunities.
